This was a small project that had the aim of taking a alternative and minimalist view of the alpine winter environment. Instead of turning my camera outwards to the untouched surrounds (as I so often do) I decided to turn inwards to see how we interact with our environment. So I took the view of mountain minimalism with this photography. I think there is innate beauty in how we interact in nature, we do tend to respond in a binary way – natural and untouched = good. Built and developed = bad. Factors such as these live in a balance, equilibrium if you like, inherently neither good nor bad, they just are. Much of my recent work looks at this equilibrium and will continue to do so.
